Our Community

Our Community

We’re proud of the students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, partners, and many more who make up our talented community. They’re helping us shape the future of fine craft and trade, and making a difference in communities near and far.

“I love the fact that I get to keep learning everyday right alongside my students.”

Jeff Altepeter BB ’99, Bookbinding Dept Head

“There's no better feeling than loving your work!”

Cecelia Marquez, Carpentry ’21

“I couldn't be more happy with my choice to change careers and attend NBSS. Before enrolling the Jewelry program, I didn't feel tangibly engaged in my work, and now I make things of lasting value and beauty.”

Geraldine Kish Perry, Jewelry 51³Ô¹Ï & Repair '00

“I came to NBSS to learn a craft that I enjoyed doing and sustain myself with it by starting my own business. The best part of my education was being immersed in a large student body of such interesting people.”

Abbie Smith, Cabinet & Furniture 51³Ô¹Ï '19

“There is no other place to get this type of training. If you want to set yourself apart, NBSS will give you more credibility and knowledge than you could get with 10 years in the field.”

Brent Hull, Preservation Carpentry '93

Our Facilities

Though we're known for teaching traditional trades, our building is anything but old-fashioned. We've had a home in Boston's 51³Ô¹Ï End since 1881, moving into a renovated and impressive 64,000 square foot facility in 2013.
